AT THE TOP OF ITS GAME

11/18/2020

We all know it’s important we make the right food choices so when nutrition experts dish up advice about margarine we’re all ears.

The Journal of the American Medical Association – aka JAMA – has been published week in, week out, for over 100 years, and it’s packed full of news, essays, and reams of words dedicated to understanding everything there is to understand about the human body. So when they tell us to do something which will benefit our health – like using margarine – who are we to argue with the experts?

Back in 2000, they set up the first ever head-to-head competition to see who would win in a health race and we’re happy to report that margarine finished first, as the healthier product. 46 families took part, with the results highlighting a noticeable drop in bad cholesterol levels. Soft margarines are a good nutrition option because they are made with a blend of vegetable oils and contain low level of saturated fat. The JAMA study is not alone in dispelling the myths of margarine nutrition. This research is in line with several other recent studies, which have found that the margarine found so easily in your nearest supermarket or grocery store can make a real difference to your health.

And we suggest applying this neat little nugget to your personal food philosophy; “Choosing to consume a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables, switching processed foods with rice or flour based foods with soft margarine are choices we can make as a step towards living healthily.”
